Professional Development for Teachers

The MERC organises lectures for teachers on a variety of subjects appropriate for serving teachers in U.A.E schools.  Our aim is to spread modern, progressive and humanistic education as widely as possible.

Many of our lecturers come to us from the Faculty of Education of Cambridge University, England, but increasingly we have had specialist teachers speaking about  the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language for both adults and children.

We also invite well known writers and book illustrators to give presentations at our Centre and also in several schools.   We are open to invites from schools to take our speakers there.

Several times publishing companies have approached us and, recently, they have given lectures on their  books, schemes of work,  the use of the whiteboard, and about the latest ICT (Information and Communication Technology) education taking place in UK.

When we first opened in 2002 our first course was attended by 15 teachers , and now many hundreds of teachers pass through our Centre, annually.

In our database we have listed the e mail addresses of hundreds of teachers and of nearly every private school in the U.A.E.
